Horsehead & Flame Nebulae - 22nd September
September, 2025
My first ever photograph of the wonderful and hauntingly beautiful Horsehead Nebula (IC434). I've always wanted to image this ever since I first picked up astronomy as a hobby over a decade ago.
In the lower left of the image is the equally magnificent Flame Nebula, NGC 2024.
Both of these nebulae are part of the Orion B cloud which makes up part of the absolutely enormous Orion Molecular Cloud Complex in the constellation of Orion. This is an extremely active star-forming region within our galaxy and contains some of its youngest stars.
